The Near West Recreation lacrosse league was created and still exist because of the continuous support from the North Coast Ohio Chapter of US Lacrosse.  Thank you!

The lacrosse season takes place from early April through the end of May. Registration opens mid February and ends mid-March.

Near West Recreation currently offers two divisions: Learn to Play coed U9 (ages 7-9) and coed U12 (ages 10-12). Participants will be placed on teams according to their age on March 1. Kids must turn 7 before April 1.

When: U9 (ages 7-9) practice on Monday evenings and will run as a weekly clinic from April 1 - May 13.  All U9 players will practice and learn skills together on Mondays from 6:30 - 7:45 pm.  The last two Mondays, players will get the opportunity to play in mini games verse one another.

U12 (ages 10-12) practice on Thursday evenings.  All U12 players will be placed on a team.  All teams will practice in a clinic like setting on Thursdays from 6:30- 7:45 pm.  Teams will have games on Saturday mornings on May 4, 11,18 along with Thursdays, May 9 & 16.

Locations: Games and practices are played on gyms and fields around the Near West Side.  Majority of practices and games will take place at Urban Community School. View Locations tab to see where all gyms are located.

Equipment:  Participants receive a team t-shirt. Tennis shoes are required for all participants.  Balls and other equipment are provided by Near West Recreation.

Cost: $50 per child. Need-based financial assistance is available.

Volunteer Coaches: We are always in need of volunteer coaches and parents.  We are looking for adults that have general knowledge of the sport, can commit two to three hours per week to practice and games, and most importantly can bring positive energy to the players they coach.  As this is a new sport, we are also looking for parents or community members willing to learn simple lacrosse drills and help run them at practices. Background checks are required and paid for by Near West Recreation. We work with coaches to coordinate practice times that work with their schedule.  If interested, you can fill out the coach's form here.  We will contact you with more information.
